Weather in Guelph was on the cusp of winter and spring. Here is a corn field on the edge of town:
These snowflowers pushed their way through the forest mat to announce that spring was here:
The University of Guelph campus was well marked for the event. Here is Dr. Ronald Warner with Congress coordinator Jason Kelly:
Dr. Warner's two-day pre-Congress workshop on Solution-Focused Interviewing was filled to capacity, with 28 registered. Most of the participants were staff from addiction, mental health, and other social service programs in various parts of southern Ontario.  Solution-Focused Interviewing is a strength-based approach that turns out to have many points in common with what LifeRing does.  Here is a view of the workshop with Dr. Warner and part of the group:

The Friday night reception at the Faculty Club of the University of Guelph was a chance for old friends and new participants to meet in a relaxed, comfortable setting:
The University's Rozanski Hall featured this high-tech auditorium with every conceivable visual aid. Charlotte Kasl is at the podium.

A convenor workshop focused on strategies and practical hints for starting new meetings.

Dinner at the Faculty Club began with a period of milling around and socializing:
Nothing is too good for people in recovery!  Salmon and shrimp canapes were served as appetizers:
After an enormous first course of manicotti stuffed with spinach and ricotta, the building's alarm bells rang and we were evacuated for 45 minutes while firemen dealt with a smoking elevator motor.  The fire drill was a good thing or we might never have been able to find room for the second, third, and fourth courses.
After the Congress was done, Jason Kelly led a brief sightseeing tour of downtown Guelph.
Newly elected Board member Katie F. and retiring Board member Gillian E. share a laugh on a bench in the City Center.
